INSIDE LIFE > A Belgian court has ruled that a tooth of murdered Congolese independence leader Patrice Lumumba should be returned to his family

The tooth is among the last remains of Lumumba, whose body was dissolved in suphuric acid after his 1961 execution by firing squad. The Belgium state seized the tooth from the family of a Belgian officer who took the tooth and several fingers as a trophy. In June, Lumumba's daughter Juliana Lumumba wrote a letter to King Philippe asking for her father's remains to be returned "to the land of his ancestors."
