A chieftain of the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party (ANDP), Prince Crispus Amarabhi Ovoh Jr. has lauded the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Tribunal over its decision on Monday that nullified the state governorship election held on November 16, 2019.

On August 17 that the Governorship Election Tribunal nullified the November 16, 2019 governorship election.

The election had the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP), Senator Duoye Diri declared as the governor.

The tribunal, nullifying the exercise, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election within 90 days.

Reacting to the Tribunal judgement in a memo made available to Hothints Prince Ovoh Jr. stated that the judgment is well-deserved.

He said that the Tribunal Judges used their wisdom in line with electorate law on matter that has to do with exclusion of a political party on the ballot paper on election.

The nullification of the election and an order for a fresh election within 90 days is a welcome development and justice has taken his course,” the ANDP chieftain said.

Ovoh, in the meantime, called on Bayelsans to be law abiding and shun any act of violence.

All party faithfuls should get ready for a fresh election,” he noted.

ANDP, it could be recalled, is one of the political parties deregistered by INEC.
